Graduate/Post-graduate programs served by Dr. Jamal: Chemistry

Graduated (B.Sc.) in chemistry and biology from the University of Peshawar – Pakistan (2003), M.Sc. degree in organic chemistry from the University of Malakand – Pakistan (2005) and doctorate (Ph.D.) in organic chemistry from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) – Brazil, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Antonio Luiz Braga (2014). From 2015-2018, he was involved in several Postdoctoral Research Projects in the group of Prof. Antonio Luiz Braga and teaching activities at the Department of Chemistry – UFSC. Currently, he is serving as an associate professor (foreign faculty) at the Institute of Chemistry (INQUI) – the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS). At INQUI-UFMS, he is involved in teaching as well as research activities and also working as a research supervisor for master (M.Sc.) and doctoral degree (Ph.D.) programs. He is an associate member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (AMRSC).

His research experience and interest are in the development of environmentally benign organic synthetic protocols, organochalcogen (S, Se, Te) chemistry, C(sp2)-H bond activation/functionalization, chalcogenation of heterocyclic compounds, catalysis, photochemical reactions, synthesis of small molecules with pharmacological applications.
