Congratulations to Dr. Felipe Braga on a paper just published in  Sustainable Chemistry and Pharmacy entitled “In Water Morita-Baylis-Hillman Reactions of Acrylates Enabled by Aqueous Micellar Catalysis using TPGS-750M”

Highlights

  • A greener and efficient protocol for Morita-Baylis-Hillman reactions was developed under aqueous micellar conditions.
  • The non-toxic biodegradable TPGS-750 M was used as micellar catalyst to promote the reaction.
  • A variety of aldehydes/acrylates were tested, which display a great substrate scope and exemplify the utility of the method.
  • A gram-scale reaction and a recyclability study of the aqueous medium guarantee good reproducibility and scale-up potentials.
